Derwent Valley Beekeepers Association has a vision for beekeeping in the Derwent Valley.

• The valley has a rich history in agriculture including cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants, apples, and poppies.
• It is the gateway to the Florentine Valley and Strathgordon where the leatherwood grows.
• It has the potential to develop and grow the beekeeping industry in supporting the agricultural industry and become world renowned.

Our vision is to grow the beekeeping industry in the valley by:

• Hosting an annual honeybee festival
• Visiting schools and providing information about honeybees to students
• Building a honey production shed for hobbyist beekeepers to harvest their beehive products at a minimal cost.
• Developing a honeybee museum and educational hub in New Norfolk that will provide beekeeping cadetships and apprenticeships to local youth.
• Become a sustainable industry providing employment for locals.

The first step to achieving our goal is to purchase an education/market van and host a honeybee festival within twelve months. To achieve this, we are asking for support from people who would like to see our vision come to fruition by donating to our not-for-profit association for the purchase of our van. We need $95,000.
